The Faculty
The Faculty of Social and Behavioral Sciences comprises six scientific disciplines:

Science of Education

Psychology

Sports Science

Politcal Science

Sociology

Empirical Cultural Science
These disciplines cover a broad spectrum of social and behavioral science: from experimental psychology to cultural history, from social work to international politics, from the philosophy of education to the analysis of dynamic movement in sports.
Focal point in all these disciplines is the human being:

his culture and lifestyle (Empirical Cultural Science)
Focus of Research
Research focuses on behavioral and social phenomena of individual and social life.
Basic theoretical research is combined with empirical and applied research. Developments in science-technology and intercultural communication create historical-comparative and international-comparative research projects.
A cooperative approach to research creates an environment of ãunity in diversity.Ò This cooperative approach also creates exciting research opportunities with other Faculties in the University. Close research relationships exist with the Faculties of Biology, Medicine, Law, Economics, Physics, Informatics, Geosciences, Cultural Sciences, Linguistics and History.
The Goal: Education
Primary responsibility and goal of the Faculty is education. The interdisciplinary nature of the Faculty and its cooperative relationships produce innovative approaches to university education. The increasing importance of Social and Behavioral Sciences is reflected in new fields of study, new course offerings, and new opportunities for international study and research.
Students
About 6,000 students are studying in the Faculty.
